The first game back after an All-Star break can be dicey for NBA teams.
As coach Jason Kidd said before Thursday’s return to action, sometimes the mind drifts back to the beaches of Mexico or whatever exotic locale players visited during the break.
“You can still, mentally, be in one of those nice places,” Kidd said.
Especially when you have to wait an extra 20 minutes to get back to business.
But even if it took awhile for some slippery substance to get wiped from the floor before the start of the game, the Mavericks reboot got off to a solid start as they ran away from the San Antonio Spurs 142-116 at American Airlines Center.
