Chimezie Metu drained a wide open three-pointer from the corner at time expired and the Sacramento King edged the Dallas Mavericks, 95-94, Wednesday night at Golden 1 Center.
The heart-breaking loss dropped the Mavs to 16-18 on the season, while the Kings increased their record to 15-21. The same two teams will play back here again in Sacramento on Friday at 5 p.m. CT.
Jalen Brunson led the Mavs with 25 points and six assists, Kristaps Porzingis had 24 points and seven rebounds and Dorian Finney-Smith collected 11 points and six boards.
De’Aaron Fox paced the Kings with 16 points, Harrison Barnes and Davion Mitchell tallied 14 points apiece, Tyrese Haliburton contributed 12 points and 10 assists, and Marvin Bagley III and Metu each scored 11 points.
