BERLIN, Germany – Dirk Nowitzki might not be done with international basketball after all.
The Dallas Mavericks forward could barely hold back the tears at Berlin’s Mercedes Benz Arena Thursday after he received a standing ovation as Germany was eliminated from contention at EuroBasket at the end of the first round following a 77-67 loss to Spain.
The 37-year-old, who averaged 13.8 points in five games, had ended a four-year hiatus from FIBA competition for the opportunity to play in his homeland – and the chance to play in the Olympics for the second time in his career.
