Going into the offseason, the Dallas Mavericks felt like they had all of their bases covered at the center position for free agency. They knew that they had Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan in their sights and felt that Tyson Chandler would still be there if things didn’t work with Jordan.
The next set of events between Jordan and the Mavericks will forever live in infamy. Even after ultimately being burned by Jordan, Dallas still felt they had their safety net waiting for them in re-signing Chandler. Instead of waiting to be second-fiddle once again, Chandler opted to bolt for Phoenix and sign with the Suns.
