Former Dallas police chief David Brown stood next to Harrison Barnes and, while appreciating the athleticism the Mavericks' forward has, he said their visit to Exline Recreation Center in south Dallas said more about Barnes.
The pair took part in an afternoon basketball camp for kids of all ages. Barnes and Brown got to be friends after the tragic police shooting last year.
"Harrison is impressively smart and talented," Brown said. "The athletics is God-given. But that's not the best part of Harrison. The best part of Harrison is he cares about the city of Dallas and he cares enough to come to south Dallas, which is a poor community.
