This afternoon the Mavericks announced they would convert Gian Clavell’s contract into a two-way contract, meaning Clavell will spend the majority of his time in the G League and up to 45 days in the NBA.
When Dallas originally signed him before the preseason, they included the option for the contract to be picked up as a two-way if the Mavericks liked what they saw from Clavell in the preseason. They did.
Two-way contracts are a new addition to the NBA this season. Each team is allowed to sign up to two two-way contracts at a given time.
