SALT LAKE CITY -- For the 1,441st time in his career, Dirk Nowitzki hopped off the bench when was name was called as Dallas’ starting lineup was announced over the arena speakers.
This time, however, it was a little different. The 21-year veteran received a loud ovation from the crowd inside Utah’s Vivint Smart Home Arena.
The basketball fans in Salt Lake City, like many others around the country, wanted to show their appreciation for Nowitzki in case he retires at the end of the season and doesn’t return to Utah again.
Even though the arena has changed names over the years, it will always hold a unique spot in Nowitzki’s legacy.
