DALLAS — Before heading to Las Vegas to begin their summer-league schedule, the Dallas Mavericks are already looking to establish an identity in practice as the squad goes through a five-day minicamp.
Monday, the Mavericks’ summer squad gathered for the first time, looking to install the team’s defensive and offensive playbook. And with a goal of getting better every day that they’re together, the Mavs’ cast of roster hopefuls will try to jell prior to playing their first outing Saturday against New Orleans.
“Well, the first goal is to be playing the best team basketball we can play the last game that we play,” said Mavs assistant coach Kalab Canales, who serves as head coach of the summer-league squad for a season straight time.
