While the NBA playoffs roll on, the offseason decisions have already begun to come down for the Dallas Mavericks.
On Monday, forward Dwight Powell has reportedly chosen to opt out of the final season of a four-year deal he signed in 2016, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports. Powell would have made more than $10.2 million next season and then become an unrestricted free agent in 2020 if he had chosen to exercise his player option.
Dwight Powell's reported decision (per @YahooSportsNBA) to decline his $10.2 million option for next season paves way for Mavs to create extra cap space by resigning him to slightly lower 2019-2020 salary but higher average longer-term.
