Luka Doncic became the fourth-youngest player to reach 5,000 career points on Friday night as he led the Dallas Mavericks to an easy 110-90 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at American Airlines Center.
With the win, the Mavs (39-28) clinched the Southwest Division title and went 11 games over .500 for the first time this season as they continue to hold onto fifth place in the Western Conference. Also, coach Rick Carlisle moved past Cotton Fitzsimmons and into 15th place on the NBA’s all-time winningest coach’s list with 833 victories.
Cleveland, meanwhile, lost for the 12th time in its last 13 games and dropped to 21-46 on the season.
