DALLAS — While it’s new addition Deron Williams that figures to receive the bulk of the minutes at point guard this upcoming season for the Dallas Mavericks, the team is certainly stacked with depth at the position behind the three-time All-Star.
Signing Williams to a reported two-year deal worth $10 million that features a player option for the second season following his buyout release from Brooklyn, the Mavericks believe they added a veteran floor general that can step into the starting lineup. The Dallas front office also re-signed reserve guard J.J. Barea after bringing him back for a second stint with the franchise last season, adding even more proven talent to a position that already has veterans Devin Harris and Raymond Felton returning for the 2015-16 season.
