DALLAS — Although he admits that his knowledge of this year’s draft class isn’t vast, 13-time All-Star Dirk Nowitzki will be in the war room for the Dallas Mavericks on Draft Day when June 22 comes up on the calendar.
Armed with the No. 9 pick in this month’s draft, the Mavericks will have a chance to add a Day 1 contributor to join forces with Nowitzki and leading scorer Harrison Barnes next season. Meanwhile, the Dallas front office hopes history repeats itself after both Nowitzki and Mavs great Rolando Blackman — the franchise’s top two scorers of all time — were both selected with the ninth overall pick in their respective drafts.
