Despite back-to-back losses, Mavs are encouraged by their effort in last two games

DALLAS — Despite suffering back-to-back disappointing losses to fall to 3-15 on the season, the Dallas Mavericks return home eager to build momentum after competing at a high level during their last two games.

Falling to a 94-87 loss Wednesday at home against the Southwest Division-leading San Antonio Spurs, the Mavericks hoped to bounce back one night later in Charlotte. Instead, the Mavs would get off to another sluggish start before eventually sliding to a 97-87 defeat on the road. Now, the Mavericks will try to put together a more complete 48 minutes while replicating their effort from the previous two outings when the team begins a four-game homestand Saturday night against the new-look Chicago Bulls.
