LOS ANGELES - A monstrously bad 10-day stretch for the Mavericks continues to get worse with the revelation Friday that rookie Dennis Smith Jr. was named in federal documents that listed players who received improper benefits from an agent while still in high school.
The documents said Smith was among those who received "loans" from the agent. In Smith's case the total was listed as $73,500 and that the loan included stipulations for recouping the money should Smith not sign with ASM, the agency headed by longtime NBA agent Andy Miller.
Smith did not sign with Miller, hiring Glenn Schwartzman as his agent.
