Dead-eye Mavericks hang on for precious road win at Denver

DENVER – Golf balls may fly farther in the thin air of the mile-high city, but basketballs were flying exactly like they should have for the Mavericks Tuesday night.

The Mavericks did what they’ve done a lot of lately – made a bunch of three-pointers – and got the biggest one of the night by Dorian Finney-Smith with 17 seconds left for a 116-115 victory over the Denver Nuggets at Ball Arena.

After Denver had gone on a 11-0 run to lead 112-111, Finney-Smith’s bucket put the Mavericks up 114-112. And when two-time MVP Nikola Jokic missed the first of two free throws, Spencer Dinwiddie hit two from the stripe with 10.
