Day-after Mavericks thoughts: Why it could be time to throw rookie A.J. Hammons to the wolves

Here are our second-chance points that, regrettably, have to be made about the Mavericks' 95-85 loss to Detroit on Wednesday at American Airlines Center:

What a glass-kicking: It's one thing when Andre Drummond, one of the elite rebounders in the NBA, goes off for 14 boards in one half on you and 17 for the game. But when Aron Baynes, who came in averaging 4.3 rebounds in 16.3 minutes per game, rips down 10 caroms on you, you've got serious problems. OK, the Mavericks didn't need that to hammer home the point. But they were outrebounded by Drummond 14-9 in the first half.
