After the Boston Celtics were unable to trade David Lee at the deadline, the Celtics decided to waive Lee prior to the waiver wire deadline so the veteran forward could join a playoff team with a bigger playing role going forward.
The Dallas Mavericks swooped in and signed Lee to a deal for the rest of the year where he has found himself playing valuable minutes off the bench for the Mavs in the second half of the season. While playing in the season finale against San Antonio, Lee suffered a injury to his right heel that left him unable to play the rest of the game.
