The Dallas Mavericks have called up two-way player Daryl Macon with J.J. Barea down for the season and the team in need of more point guard depth. Dennis Smith Jr., who is sidelined with a back injury, will try to practice this week, but his timetable for return is uncertain and he may even be on the trade block.
Signed as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas, Macon is a score-first point guard in the model of Yogi Ferrell. Through 26 games in the G-League Macon is averaging 19.
