The Dallas Mavericks made a 2018 draft night trade to acquire the services of Ray Spalding. The 56th overall pick was given a guaranteed contract with the Mavs, but the crowded frontcourt has put Spalding in the G-League.
It is the best situation for both parties in the short-term. Spalding gets to play massive minutes and be one of the premier players on the Texas Legends. The Mavericks also continue his development against professional talent.
The Legends faced off against the Stockton Kings on Nov. 26. They traveled to California and lost 101-97 despite a feverish fourth-quarter comeback.
