The Dallas Mavericks had to replace two key figures in the organization this offseason. General manager and president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson mutually parted ways with the franchise after 24 years. He had been GM since 2005. The next day, head coach Rick Carlisle resigned after 13 years in Dallas. Owner Mark Cuban had plenty of work to do to fill both positions.
The signings of Jason Kidd as head coach and Nico Harrison as general manager became official on June 28.
