The Dallas Mavericks made a draft-night trade to acquire two additional second round picks. They moved back from 37th to 45th overall. With their lone pick in 2019, the Mavs drafted Isaiah Roby.
Roby played three seasons at Nebraska before declaring for the draft. Last season, he averaged 11.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.9 steals, and 2.0 blocks in 31.2 minutes per game.
The Mavericks were attracted to Roby because of his ball-handling, rebounding, and defensive ability at 6’8. The 21-year-old still has plenty of room to improve as well.
Roby’s Mavericks career began in the Las Vegas Summer League.
