The Dallas Mavericks have watched Dwight Powell blossom. They acquired him from the Celtics in 2014. Powell was in the midst of his rookie season. He played a total of nine minutes for Boston. His role was small even after joining the Mavs, but it grew each season. Powell finally became a full-time starter this year in his sixth NBA season.
Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle was still playing the matchups, though. Powell averaged 26.5 minutes per game. He would play next to Kristaps Porzingis, but the Mavericks would go small when the situation called for it.
