The Dallas Mavericks have not qualified for the playoffs since 2016. Dirk Nowitzki, the greatest player in franchise history retired at the conclusion of last season. The team should be undergoing personnel changes.
Perhaps, that is why Mavs fans were upset when the team prioritized re-signing their talent in free agency this summer. They inked a five-year max contract with Kristaps Porzingis. The front office also brought back Dwight Powell, Maxi Kleber, Dorian Finney-Smith, and J.J. Barea. That appears to give the Mavericks a lot of continuity, but they may not be the case.
