The Dallas Mavericks swung a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans for J.J. Redick minutes before the trade deadline. They sent out their 2021 second-round pick, Wesley Iwundu, and James Johnson to get the veteran and Nicolo Melli. Dallas took the chance to upgrade their roster and could not afford to let him hit the buyout market.
They will have to wait for Redick, though. The 36-year-old has not played since March 3 because of a heel injury.
