After getting a huge offer from the Sacramento Kings, free-agent guard Wes Matthews opted to turn that offer down and verbally commit to joining the Dallas Mavericks late Thursday evening. NBA.com’s David Aldridge was first to report the story. It will be a four-year deal with financial terms that will depend on a potential remaining move.
There is plenty to like in regards to Matthews: he’s only 28, a proven “3-and-D” player, and he continued to show signs that he was poised to breakout this upcoming season.
The major issue with Matthews came indirectly at the hands of the Mavericks: Matthews was injured in the third quarter of Portland’s game against the Mavericks on Mar.
