On the first weekend of summer with temperatures crossing the 100-degree mark, I lack the ability to produce rain. And, actually, raining on the Mavericks' lottery pick parade is hardly my intention.
But perhaps a touch of sobriety while toasting the winners of the Luka Doncic derby is in order.
The European shooting guard came at a high price. If reports are true that the Mavericks refused to put Wesley Matthews in the deal and were all too willing to send a first-round pick to Atlanta instead, I don't see how that fits a team just getting started on a serious rebuild.
