The Houston Rockets are up for sale. While they certainly won’t go for a song, a popular singer is said to be interested in owning part of the NBA team.
Beyoncé, who was born and raised in Houston, is considering an investment in the Rockets, according to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter. No one from Beyoncé’s camp or the Rockets chose to comment on the possibility.
Les Alexander bought the team in 1993 for $85 million and the Rockets went on to win back-to-back NBA championships in 1994-95. He announced last month his intention to sell, and though Forbes valued the team at $1.
