DALLAS — After putting plenty of weight on the broad shoulders of the shortest player on the roster during the last four games, the Dallas Mavericks may need veteran guard J.J. Barea to continue carrying a heavy burden in order to push the team into the playoffs.
Monday, the NBA announced that Barea was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from March 28 through April 3. The honor marked the first time in his career that the 31-yeard-old Barea has received the honor and the first time a Maverick has garnered the award since Monta Ellis on April 13, 2014.
