DALLAS — He quickly turned heads while helping to lead the Dallas Mavericks to the quarterfinals of the Las Vegas Summer League. Now, first-round draft pick Justin Anderson says he has more work to do in order to prepare for a grueling 82-game season.
Starting all six games for the Mavericks’ summer-league squad, Anderson finished second on the team in scoring while averaging 17.5 points, pulling down 4.2 rebounds an outing to boot. He also connected on 43.4 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from behind the three-point arc, showing an ability to stretch the floor. However, Anderson admits that he has a lot of learning to do in order to prepare for the regular season as he tries to crack coach Rick Carlisle’s rotation as a rookie.
