With the 21st pick in the NBA Draft the Dallas Mavericks selected versatile swingman Justin Anderson from the University of Virginia.
Many around the league suspected that the Mavericks would opt to go for a point guard, but even had they wanted to, the best option left on the board at #21 was Tyus Jones.
Rumor had it that the Mavericks were high on Jones, but with the team in win-now mode Donnie Nelson instead chose another ACC star more suited to contribute right away.
Anderson has legitimate NBA size – 6’6″, 231-lbs, near 7-foot wingspan – and has the potential to help fill two areas of need for the title-chasing Mavericks immediately.
