LAS VEGAS — Saving their best performance through their first four games of the Las Vegas Summer League for just the right time, the Dallas Mavericks looked to keep their hopes of capturing a tournament championship alive as they returned to the court Thursday.
Looking to build on Wednesday’s last-second 88-86 win over the Los Angeles Lakers after dropping their previous three outings, the 22nd-seeded Mavericks attempted to advance out of the second round of the tournament with a victory over the NBA Development League’s select team. The young Mavs also tried to move one step closer to accomplishing a goal they set for themselves when they first came together for the start of minicamp on July 7.
