LAS VEGAS — While the Dallas Mavericks’ front office actively purses free agents to build a roster capable of contending for West Conference supremacy during the 2015-16 season, the team’s fans got their initial look at first-round pick Justin Anderson and the summer-league squad Saturday in Las Vegas.
Beginning their three-game preliminary schedule before the format switches to tournament play, the Mavericks attempted to get off to a fast start against the Southwest Division rival New Orleans Pelicans. Meanwhile, Anderson hoped to make a lasting first impression in his first game action as a Mav.
Rolling out a starting lineup of Kevin Pangos, Jordan Crawford, Anderson, second-year big man Dwight Powell and center Jeremy Tyler, the Mavericks tried to seize the momentum in the opening quarter.
