The Dallas Mavericks were interested in being sellers at the trade deadline, but it does not appear that they will make a trade prior to Thursday, according to Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.
The Mavericks have nothing cooking on the trade front, a source said Monday.
That doesn't mean things couldn't accelerate rapidly between now and the Thursday deadline. But if anything does happen involving the Mavericks, it appears it will go down to the 11th hour.
The Mavericks have been keeping tabs on the goings-on around the league. But they clearly have not fielded any inquiries to their liking for Wesley Matthews or any of their players with expiring contracts.
Dallas had made everyone other than Dirk Nowitzki, Dennis Smith Jr., and Harrison Barnes with Wesley Matthews and J.J. Barea garnering the most interest.
However, the Mavs were looking for a first-round pick or young players in return and have not received an offer they liked - and owner Mark Cuban said they're not going to make a trade just to make one.
"We won't make deals just to make deals," Cuban said. "We will make trades that we feel are necessary to put us back on the championship path."
Dallas is currently in last place in the Western Conference with a 17-37 record.
