Mavs Draft Rumors: Dallas Hoping Malik Monk Falls To Them At No. 9?

The Dallas Mavericks plan to address their need in the backcourt with the No. 9 overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, and have had their eyes on a pair of point guards in Frank Ntilikina and Dennis Smith Jr.

While Dallas likes both of those players, they are hoping that Kentucky shooting guard Malik Monk falls to them, according to Matt Mosley of SportsDayDFW.com.

I'd be OK with that. The guy's a flat-our scorer. Not always interested in playing D, but that's OK. Other than maybe Ball, Monk might be the most entertaining player in the draft. The guy will score in the NBA. I'd feel better about him than Fox...although Fox was great in the tourney.

Monk had been heavily linked to the 76ers with the No. 3 pick or a possible trade back, but with Philadelphia likely moving up to draft Markelle Fultz with the No. 1 pick, Monk is expected to slip on draft night.

Dallas traveled to watch Monk workout a couple of weeks ago, and came away considering him to be a "top 10" prospect.

Monk averaged 19.8 points per game while shooting 45 percent from the floor and 39.7 percent from three-point range for Kentucky.
