The Dallas Mavericks may not have a lot of trade chips this season, but if the Mavs feel like they can add a third piece to the dynamic duo of Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic prior to the NBA trade deadline, they may be able to pull it off by trading for a guy like Jrue Holiday of the New Orleans Pelicans. Jrue Holiday is on the trade block according to various reports. Holiday’s defensive versatility and offensive playmaking ability would be welcomed in a backcourt with Luka Doncic. Luka Doncic has been playing at an MVP level but still needs another playmaker to help him out on the offensive end, and Holiday could be that piece.

Another bigger name the Dallas Mavericks could look to trade for is Bogdan Bogdanovic of the Sacramento Kings. Bogdanovic could be on the move this season as the Sacramento Kings have money locked up in Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Dewayne Dedmon and Cory Joseph. Bogdanovic would add another international presence to the Dallas Mavericks and would bring an immediate 3-point threat to the Mavs that they are desperately missing. Jimmy Crowther, host of NBA Now, outlines at what a trade would look like IN THE VIDEO ABOVE AND BELOW.

The Mavs have been closely linked to Andre Iguodala of the Memphis Grizzlies leading up to the NBA trade deadline, but the Mavericks could look to bring back former Maverick and current Grizzly, Jae Crowder instead. Crowder last played for the Mavs back in 2014 before being traded for Rajon Rondo and Dwight Powell, but he could return to Dallas as a defensive wing off the bench behind Dorian Finney-Smith. At 29 years old and playing for a lottery-bound team in the Grizzlies, Crowder could be looking to move onto a playoff contender like the Dallas Mavericks.
The final player Jimmy Crowther looks at for the Dallas Mavericks is Robert Covington of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Robert Covington is reportedly on the trade block for Minnesota leading up to the NBA trade deadline. Covington would immediately step into the starting five for the Mavericks over Dorian Finney-Smith as he is just a step above Finney-Smith on the defensive end and as a 3-point shooter. Covington’s defensive ability is what would make him a prime candidate for the Dallas Mavericks to make a move for before the NBA trade deadline.
