During Saturday's shootaround in preparation for the Dallas Mavericks' game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, head coach Rick Carlisle indicated that guard Raymond Felton won't start his suspension until Monday at the earliest.
“He had a really good day today and we’re feeling pretty good about starting it on Monday,” Carlisle said, via Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News. “So I think that’s where we’re at. That’s the way we’ll proceed.”
The NBA handed Felton a four-game suspension in August, several weeks after he pleaded guilty to both attempted criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. Both charges came about when he was a member of the Knicks last season.
As Townsend points out in his article posted Saturday, "a suspension cannot begin, however, until a player is physically able to perform in games. Felton has been rehabbing from a right high-ankle sprain that he suffered early in the preseason. He had been listed as “probable” for Saturday’s game, but Mavericks medical staff decided he wasn’t quite ready."
