After receiving a buyout from the New York Knicks during the All-Star Break, big man Amar'e Stoudemire quickly came to terms with the Dallas Mavericks on a contract for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.
Stoudemire enjoyed his time backing up Tyson Chandler and was productive in a more limited capacity than the end of his days in New York.
"It was solid,” Stoudemire said of his short stint with the Mavs this season. “It was my first time in a situation where I joined a team mid-season. There were a lot of adjustments to be made. For the most part, we had it figured out and had a successful year. It was a positive.”
Stoudemire averaged 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in 24 minutes per game for the Knicks in 2014-15. While his production dropped in his 23 games for the Mavs (10.8 points, 3.7 rebounds), his efficiency increased as he played just 16.5 minutes a contest in Dallas.
“There was a lot at stake this season. I’m sure there’s going to be another round of free agency happening again, as it was in 2010," Stoudemire said. "I’ll make my rounds and see what teams are saying, but I think Dallas is a place where I feel comfortable here. I have a chance to have great success here with this franchise. We’ll see."
