In today's Mavs news roundup, the Dallas Mavericks have completed a deal with the New York Knicks which sends Tyson Chandler back to the Mavs along with guard Raymond Felton for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, and a host of other assets.
According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, this trade could do wonders for Dallas when it comes to their ability to entice free agents - such as Carmelo Anthony - on the free market:
To sum up: Mavs send Calderon, Dalembert, Larkin and Ellington to NY for Chandler and Felton. Knicks also get 34th and 51st picks.

The deal leaves Dallas with $33m in cap room, not counting Dirk's cap hold. Depending on Dirk contract, Mavs could have max slot. — Ken Berger (@KBergCBS) June 25, 2014
That $33 million could play a critical role for the Mavs in potentially wooing Melo away from the Knicks - especially with recent news that they are the shortlist of teams currently slated to meet with the seven-time NBA All-Star:
Sources: Carmelo Anthony will visit Houston, Dallas and Chicago once teams are allowed to meet with free agents on July 1

Things look to be getting extremely interesting in Dallas as rumors begin turning into reality over the next few weeks.
