In today's Mavs news update, the Dallas Mavericks are the first team to contact free agent small forward Luol Deng in free agency - looking to get a jump on courting Deng before other teams jump into the fold.
Per Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, the Dallas Mavericks started firing soon after the clock struck 12:01am on Tuesday - marking the beginning of the 2014 NBA free agency period:
First call to free agent forward Luol Deng's reps tonight: Dallas Mavericks.

Per the Akron Beacon Journal, Luol Deng has no intentions of re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers - a development which should not come as a shocker for those who saw Deng's body language during his stay in Ohio.
However, with a veteran squad now enhanced with the addition of Tyson Chandler, the Dallas Mavericks are increasingly becoming one of the most attractive destinations for free agents in 2014 - meaning that it's very possible that the interest is mutual for the former Chicago Bulls standout.
