If the Dallas Mavericks resided in the Eastern Conference, it's not farfetched to think that they'd be an odds-on favorite for a top 3 seed or better.
However, Mavs owner Mark Cuban knows quite well that the Western Conference will be a different story during the 2014-15 NBA season.
"I think there’s a realistic chance that 10 teams win 50 games in the West,” Cuban said, via Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News.
For that to occur, two things will have to happen. Firstly, the top-ten teams will have to absolutely dominate the bottom five without fail. There may already be a hiccup with that seeing that a Sacramento Kings team most picked to reside at the bottom of the ladder has beaten the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers in successive games.
Secondly, the West's top ten will have to take a vast majority of its games against the Eastern Conference. That may be feasible considering the seeming disparity between the two conferences.
Regardless, it's a very bold statement - one that is not too far out of the realm of possibility.
