Mavs News: Dirk Nowitzki "would love to have" Melo in Dallas

In today's Mavs news update, the Dallas Mavericks have emerged as potential contenders for the services of New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony - providing that he maintains course and opts out of the final year of his contract.

Per Mike Fisher of FOX Sports Southwest, Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki spoke with 105.3 The Fan, and made it clear that he would love to see Melo land in the Big D.

"If Carmelo would really love to come here,'' Nowitzki said, via Fisher's article on Saturday. "We'd love to have him.''

With questions arising over whether or not Anthony and Nowitzki's styles would mesh on the court, Dirk quickly put those doubts to rest.

"Listen, I think Iv'e showed over my 16 years that I can play with anybody,'' Nowitzki stated. "The only tough season I think we've had is when we had (Antawn) Jamison and Antoine Walker and myself who are all three kind of the same 4-men, but other than that I think I've shown over my career that I can play with anybody. I'll adjust, whether I have to get out of the way or go to the corner more, post up, pass."

"I'll do whatever, really, that needs to be done out there to win or for this franchise to be a winner.''
