In today's Mavs news update, the Dallas Mavericks have come to an agreement with Austrailian guard Chris Goulding on a summer-league contract for 2014.
Per Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News, "Goulding has been a star in the Australian league for the past few seasons but last summer with Cleveland, he was a non-factor in summer-league action, playing just 26 minutes in four games and scoring just three points, although he apparently was fighting through some injury problems."
The six-foot-four, 25-year-old guard has been signed with no string attached for the team's roster in the NBA Summer League. However, if he impresses, his past resume' in Australia could make him an intriguing option as a potential developmental signing.
As Sefko writes, "he averaged nearly 23 points per game the past season in Australia, where he is coached by former Maverick Chris Anstey."
His scoring output might be misleading, based on the talent gap between the Australian League and the NBA.
Second-year guards Shane Larkin, Ricky Ledo, and Gal Mekel are also expected to be a part of the Mavs' roster in Las Vegas.
