In what could be either a legitimate attempt at a major coup or a revenge-motivated trolling attempt of epic proportions, the Houston Rockets have reportedly offered Dallas Mavericks staple Dirk Nowitzki a max contract to change cities in the great state of Texas.
Here's Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports with the very strange scoop, which coincides with Dallas offering Houston restricted free agent Chandler Parsons a three-year offer sheet in excess of $45 million:
Chandler Parsons will make $5 million more than Dirk Nowitzki, who coincidentally, has a standing offer for a max deal with the Rockets.

In all likelihood, Houston isn't really expecting to sign Dirk Nowitzki.
The future NBA Hall-of-Famer is scheduled to sign a three-year, $30 million contract to remain with the Mavs as early as tomorrow - a pay cut Dirk has willingly accepted in order to give the Mavericks cap space to improve the team via free agency.
Whether Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey's offer to Dirk was a pure attempt to improve the team or a "screw you" rebuttal to the tough position the Mavs have put the Rockets in with Parsons, things are getting mighty heated in Texas right about now.
