As the years have progressed, the Dallas Mavericks and their fan base have begun to worry about what life will be like without superstar Dirk Nowitzki suiting up every night.
However, one of the Dirk Nowitzki's closest confidants has just publicly made an attempt to soothe those worries for the time being.
Holger Geschwindner, who has been Nowitzki's mentor since he was a teen in Wurzburg, Germany, publicaly stated earlier today via Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com that the face of the Dallas Mavericks has "three or four more years easily" left in the tank
"Dirk is not living out of his physical abilities -- can [not] jump like crazy, run as quick as some -- so the thing is, on that level, I guess if he's not seriously injured he can play three or four more years easily."
At 35 years of age, Dirk Nowitzki is already 12th on the NBA's all-time scoring list with 26,573 points, and has a serious chance at passing both Dominique Wilkins (26,668) and Oscar Robertson (26,710) to crack the top-ten by the end of this season.
All of this, plus the Dallas Mavericks legend's inherent love of the game, has Geschwindner predicting that the sun isn't quite close to setting on the 12-time NBA All Star's one-of-a-kind career:
"The basic idea is as long as it's fun to go into work on the court and it's still interesting, he should do it, because I think the worst is if you stop and then you sit at home and think, 'Oh,' and you want to come back. You know all the big names that tried to do that. That does not work and it doesn't make sense," Geschwindner said.
"So play until you die and they drag you off the court. Then it's over. Then you really know it's over and you can live with it."
