In tonight's look into the world of the Dallas Mavericks, the Mavs may already have their sights set on three free agents who will be heavily coveted come this summer.
Per Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com, the Mavericks may already have a few names on the top of their free agency wish list, despite the NBA Playoffs still being in progress:
Dallas would certainly like to be involved in the Carmelo Anthony derby but not if he demands a super-max deal with a starting salary of more than $22 million. The Mavs will have interest in Phoenix Suns guard Eric Bledsoe and Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat, but it’ll likely be extremely difficult to woo them away from their current teams, particularly with Bledsoe being a free agent. Cleveland Cavaliers small forward Luol Deng, whose defensive ability and toughness appeal to Carlisle, will likely be near the top of the Mavs’ wish list. (Indiana Pacers shooting guard Lance Stephenson, on the other hand, will not be.)
As MacMahon points out, Deng may be the most likely fit for a Dallas Mavericks team who may be more interested in preserving continuity than making a huge roster overhaul this offseason.
However, as has been made evident before, anything is possible with Mark Cuban behind the wheel.
