Dallas Mavericks: Mavs' Shawn Marion says NBA age requirement "should be higher."

The Dallas Mavericks are in the thick of the race for the Western Conference's eighth seed and 17-year veteran forward Shawn Marion will play an integral role for the Mavericks if they are to advance to the NBA Playoffs for the 13th time in 14 years.

However, it may be Shawn Marion's personality which garners all the headlines

Speaking with reporters on Sunday, the outspoken former Phoenix Suns superstar sounded off on Adam Silver's new promotion to NBA commissioner by highlighting several key changes the new commissioner could make--the most notable of which is the Dallas Mavericks forward's thoughts on the NBA age restriction--

“I think the age requirement for coming into the league should be higher...It should be at least two years (out of high school.)"

Shawn Marion also advocated the elimination of the NBA salary cap, stating, "Baseball does it. If you want to go out and spend $200 million on your team (payroll), go ahead and do it." Marion added, "there shouldn’t be a cutoff on what people want to spend for their teams, but there should be a minimum they have to spend, so you definitely put a good product on the floor."
