The season is over the Dallas Mavericks, and they've already turned their attention toward the offseason. The Mavs still have plenty of talent and are looking for the piece or two to push them towards being a title contender. The Mavs should have plenty of a cap space and will be able to go after at least a few free agents this offseason.
While the Mavericks would love to land Kevin Durant, he's not a realistic target at this point. We're ignoring the Mavericks' own free agents and instead focusing on other team's players. With that in mind, here are 4 realistic free agent targets for the Mavericks this offseason.
4. Kent Bazemore
Bazemore has become a totally different player in Atlanta since he moved to the Eastern Conference, developing into a true 3-and-D player. That's exactly what the Mavs need, and Bazemore shouldn't break the bank or be max player. The Mavs lack depth on the wing and Bazemore would be a great fit for their offense.
3. Dwight Howard
The Mavs have already been linked to Howard, although they won't give him a max deal. That's a wise move, as Howard's issues and lack of offense in recently are worrisome. But he can still contribute to a team and would fill a major need for the Mavs. They have nothing proven at center heading into next year and need to find another Tyson Chandler. It's expected that Howard will opt-out of his deal.
2. Ryan Anderson
The Mavs like Anderson and he'd be a great fit for the team. They could use another 3-point shooting foward, especially with Dirk aging. Anderson averaged 17 points per game last year and could get a bigger contract than many expect. For more Mavs news, download the Chat Sports App!
1. Al Horford
Horford is a better option than Howard at this point. He might not be as great a rebounder, but he doesn't come with the baggage. He can also stretch the floor much better than Howard. Horford is going to get a max deal from someone this offseason, and the Mavs will have competition in their bid to land him.
