FRISCO, Texas -- Wade Phillips summed up his tenure as coach of the Dallas Cowboys with a two-word quote in his book, “Son of Bum.”
The Cowboys offered Phillips a third chance to get it right after opportunities with the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills. He posted a 34-22 record as a head coach from 2007 until the midway point of the 2010 season when he was fired after a 1-7 start to the season.
In an excerpt from the book posted on Deadspin, Phillips spoke about the lost season:
We began the 2010 season on a bad note with a 13–7 division loss to Washington.
