Why did the Cowboys ignore Jason Witten?

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – Jason Witten started the 146th straight game of his career on Sunday, moving him into second place in Dallas Cowboys history. He also caught a pass in his 118th straight game, which eclipsed a team record held by Michael Irvin.

But Witten’s 12-yard catch in the second quarter of the 16-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills was the only catch he had. He was targeted just one other time in the entire game.

Considering he is one of just 12 players with 1,000 receptions in NFL history (1,014 to be exact), and considering Kellen Moore was making the first start of his career, it seemed odd that Witten was not a focal point of the game plan.
