Whitehead hopes to land roster spot with diverse skills, not luck

Despite his name, Lucky Whitehead doesn’t succumb to superstition or triskaidekaphobia.

He wears the No. 13, after all.

“It’s kind of funny,” he said with a smile

But Whitehead turns serious when discussing his chances to make the Cowboys’ roster.

By virtue of his status as an undrafted rookie free agent, Whitehead is a longshot. But he thinks he has a chance to fill the role of Dwayne Harris, the reserve receiver who distinguished himself as a return specialist.

Whitehead said he chose to sign with Dallas in May because Harris had left to join the New York Giants in March.
